Bert Is Evil!
I grew up watching Sesame Street. It must be the best educational programmes for any child to watch. Barney, Bananas In Pajamas, Hi-5, Teletubbies and all other children programmes cannot even be compared with Sesame Street. Sesame Street has taught me my ABCs and 1-2-3s. I learned many songs from watching it. Like the Sammy the worm song, and Sunny day..lalala.... I learn that cookies are delicious and I should eat my vegetables. I also learnt a bit of checkers watchign Bert and the pigeon play.
But after I started primary school, and stoppes watchign Sesame Streets, all the sweet memories of it were stashed away together with my "Monster At The End of The Book" book starring Grover the lovable monster.
When I was in Sec 3, McDonalds started giving away Sesame Street toys with their Happy Meals. The toys can also be bought for about $2 each. I started collecting them and ended up with the whole complete set. Then my love for Sesame Street was rekindled and i went online to search about my favourite characters again.
I typed Sesame Street into the Yahoo! search engine and I was greatly shocked by my findings.
the results that came out, some of them were exactly what I had expected. Sesame Street merchandise, the official site and so on. But there were other things together with those. Things i never thought of, that will never cross my mind.
That day, I found out, Elmo is a Transvestite, that's why he speaks like that. Bert is evil. i visited the sites. There were pictures of him holding guns. Killing other Sesame Street characters and also pornographic pictures of him. And I always thought that Bert and Ernie were the cutest housemate I've ever seen, but they are really gay! It's not brotherly between them. Cookie Monster has eating disorder and Big Bird, let's just say, he isn't what we thougt he was. There;s a darker side to Big Bird that no one can ever imagine.
So that got me thinking. Is Sesame Street a healthy programme for children to watch? Have I been wrong with my judgements all these while? Was I brought up by a TV programme that really has hidden messages that are subconsciously hypnotizing us to be out of the norm.
I need to research.
